The South Vancouver Community Police Centre (SVCPC) serves as a place where members of the South Vancouver Community can come together and collaborate with the police to address crime and safety concerns in a non-crisis environment.
We strive to foster safe and livable neighborhoods through empowering individuals via education and community development. By working in dedicated partnership with the community, the Vancouver Police Department, and other agencies, we strive to create a secure and vibrant city.
Acting as a vital link between the community and the Vancouver Police Department, we prioritize fostering trust, effective communication, and mutual understanding to facilitate proactive policing and enhance community safety.
In 1995, residents, business owners, and representatives of local organizations expressed serious concern regarding the high incidence of crime in the Southeast Vancouver area. Coming together to establish the Fraser Street Community Crime Prevention Society in early 1996 the first office was opened at 51st and Fraser Street. In 2000, pressured by limited office space, rising rental costs, and the demands of an increased service area, the board pursued and secured a more affordable and more central location at the Victoria Square Shopping Center at 5657 Victoria Drive. After the move, to be more in keeping with the geographical area the SVCPC now serves, the name of the organization was changed to the South Vancouver Community Crime Prevention Society.
Since its establishment, the SVCPC has occupied various locations, having moved from Victoria Square to 5435 Victoria Drive in 2013, with its most recent office being located at 4830 Nanaimo St. as of July 2023.
